Marijuana Does Not Belong in the Mississippi Constitution.
In 2020, Mississippi Horizon is focused on defeating Initiative 65 in the November 3rd election. If passed, this initiative would change our state constitution to legalize marijuana use in Mississippi for alleged medical purposes. Even for folks who support medical marijuana, this is the wrong way to legalize marijuana use in Mississippi.
Wording in Initiative 65 would permit consumption of any form of marijuana (i.e., smoking, vaping or via food products) for alleged medical purposes. Initiative 65 allows doctors to certify patients eligible to receive two and one-half ounces of marijuana every two weeks or roughly five ounces per month, the equivalent of 300 joints.
“It is very clear to me the objective is for this (Initiative 65) to be a gateway into recreational marijuana”
